I in Intern

In DC, I feel empowered. The people I work with are unbelieveably encouraging and helpful. You would think in such a competitive atmosphere people would be cut throat and unwilling to be friendly. On the contrary these worker bees are uplifting and want to help a lowly intern like myself in order to prepare me for life. Why, then, in Christian theatre are we so critical and mean to each other? We, by our very nature, should make others feel safe and yet we don't. We take any opportunity to make ourselves look better and the conclusion I have come to is because we are insecure. We are insecure because no one builds us up and because we are too busy glorifying ourselves or at least getting others to glorify us. It makes me sad.

Growing up

Growing up is a fun thing to do; I've realized this the past couple of days especially. Growing up and apparently losing some of that baby fat is always nice. Growing up and realizing what is crucial to life and what really isn't is extremely eye opening and helps evaluate who the real friends are. More importantly, realizing that people are completely and utterly imperfect forces conversation toward Christ. In talking to my friend Hilary about this, we have (in essence) taught each other how necessary God in things as simple as everyday conversation.

Growing up also finds me here in DC. My first day of my internship starts tomorrow and I am as excited as a kid in Disneyland, which I guess isn't very grown up of me.

Life is something like it

There once was a girl named Leslie. She lived in a lovely little apartment where everything was an organized mess and friends often visited. Liberty University was her college of choice (after much coercing) and she, no doubt to the amusement of her parents, ended up LOVing school. There were times when she would have trouble balancing homework, theatre, friends, and church but most of the time, life was something like she imagined it to be... and better. God had chosen this girl from the beginning of time to be filled with optimism and wonder in regards to the world around her and never did she tire of the lessons she learned: lessons that would prepare her for adventures to come, but also for adventures from day to day. Never had she been so content.
